WWE Raw Recap: December 9, 2024

Monday Night Raw returned to the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas, on December 9, 2024, delivering an action-packed show filled with excitement and surprises. This episode was the final build-up to Saturday Night’s Main Event, scheduled to take place next weekend in New York. The show showcased intense rivalries, thrilling matches, and unexpected moments that left fans buzzing with anticipation for what’s to come.

The night kicked off with a fiery start as Seth Rollins opened the show by addressing CM Punk. Rollins didn’t hold back, accusing Punk of being a fake and someone who had betrayed him in the past. Rollins spoke about how their friendship had turned sour and promised to expose Punk for who he truly is. It was a heated segment that set the tone for the rest of the evening.

The Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament continued with a first-round triple-threat match featuring Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega, and Ivy Nile. The match was fast-paced and full of action, with all three competitors giving it their all. In the end, Lyra Valkyria emerged victorious after pinning Ivy Nile with her Nightwing finisher. This win secured her spot in the next round of the tournament.

In another exciting match, Liv Morgan faced Dakota Kai. The two superstars put on a great performance, but Liv managed to secure the win by hitting Dakota with her Oblivion finisher. Liv’s victory added more momentum to her journey on Raw.

The rivalry between the Final Testament (Akam, Karrion Kross, and Rezar) and the Wyatt Six (Dexter Lumis, Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy, and Uncle Howdy) came to a head in a chaotic eight-man tag team match. Both teams fought hard, delivering powerful moves and thrilling the audience. The match ended with Karrion Kross pinning Uncle Howdy after performing the Final Prayer, giving the Final Testament and The Miz the victory.

One of the most intense moments of the night was the Anything Goes match between Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez. This brutal match saw both women use tables, steel steps, and other weapons to inflict damage on each other. The fight spilled all over the arena, with neither competitor holding back. Despite Raquel’s incredible effort, Rhea secured the win by putting her through a table with her devastating Riptide move.

Another highlight of the show was GUNTHER’s confrontation with Judgment Day. GUNTHER defended his upcoming World Heavyweight Championship match against Finn Balor and Damian Priest at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Things escalated quickly when Judgment Day tried to gang up on GUNTHER, leading to a wild brawl. WWE official Adam Pearce later announced that the championship match would now be a triple-threat bout, raising the stakes for this weekend’s event.

In a surprising twist, The New Day’s Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston addressed their recent heel turn on Big E during an interview. The crowd’s negative reaction frustrated them, and they stormed off after being booed heavily, signaling a darker direction for the former fan-favorites.

Drew McIntyre also made his presence felt when he attacked Sami Zayn during a backstage segment. Their confrontation spilled onto the ramp, where Drew left Sami lying after a vicious assault. This attack further set the stage for their match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

CM Punk appeared in a pre-recorded sit-down interview where he reflected on his troubled relationship with Seth Rollins. Punk spoke about feeling betrayed by Rollins and other WWE superstars since his return, adding more tension to their growing feud.
